Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my adolescent/teen have to be in therapy?

The duration of therapy has a wide range depending on their needs and the nature of the concerns. Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis but can be adjusted based on their needs.
Am I, as a parent, involved in the therapeutic process?

The degree of parental involvement varies based on the needs of your child. Therapists may work with parents to understand family dynamics, provide guidance on supporting the child, and offer parenting strategies. I will often have a session with parents every 1.5 - 2 months to check-in about therapeutic goals and progress.
Will I be able to know what my child talks about?

Confidentiality in the therapeutic relationship with adolescents/teens is crucial as it creates a safe environment for them to process and ask questions. However, therapists may share information with parents or caregivers if they believe the child is at risk of harm or if needed in the therapeutic process.
Will I get an update about how my child is doing?

I will often have a session with parents every 1.5 - 2 months to check-in about therapeutic goals and progress.
